Friend, the OLD WAY of trying to get back to God by obeying the law has been replaced by A NEW WAY. Are you truly a follower of THAT NEW WAY or are you still trying to please God by trying to obey the law??? This is what this 3 part teaching called "What's God looking for in HIS PEOPLE?" is all about.  ENJOY! 

Most of you know about the tough relationship I have with my mother due to her bondage in legalism/religion; that no matter how hard I try to explain WHY I believe the way I believe, and why we've left the institutionalized church, and WHY I dare to write articles for the Website, and why I [a housewife with NO FORMAL theological training] went to Kenya to preach...she just DOES NOT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND. WHY? What is keeping her from UNDERSTANDING??? What is blinding her mind? Why can't she SEE THE TRUTH? Why is she so AGAINST my walk with God? And why is she, without even realizing it, doing EVERYTHING IN HER POWER to STOP me from FOLLOWING and OBEYING THE TRUE SPIRIT OF CHRIST...FROM DOING WHAT THEHOLY SPIRIT IS LEADING ME TO DO?

Friend, I clearly sense this MASSIVE SPIRITUAL BATTLE between the anti-Christ spirit keeping her hostage, and THE HOLY SPIRIT inside of me...and it truly breaks my heart! BUT PRAISE GOD...over and over again THE SPIRIT reminds me THAT I AM IN A HUGE SPIRITUAL BATTLE, and that my enemy is NOT FLESH AND BLOOD, but the spiritual powers in the heavenlies. Therefore I KNOW that my enemy is NOT MY MOTHER but the evil powers keeping her hostage. So I just praise God that He is even using this RELATIONSHIP for my good (my spiritual growth)...because believe you me, it forces me time and again onto my knees as it brings me to the end of my SELF!

Remember how Paul zealously persecuted the TRUE FOLLOWERS OF THE WAY before his spiritual eyes were opened??? How he, with everything inside of him, BELIEVED that he was actually doing God a favour by trying to STOP THE TRUE FOLLOWERS OF THE WAY? Friend one thing you got to understand: Paul truly believed IN GOD, but his spiritual eyes was not yet OPENED to THE NEW WAY...THE WAY OF CHRIST.

Please go and read Acts 9:1:19. I'll just share the first few verses with you.

• "In Jerusalem Saul was still threatening the followers of the Lord [Jesus Christ] by saying he would kill them. So he went to the high priest and asked him to write letters to the synagogues in the city of Damascus.

• Then if Saul found any followers of Christ's Way, men or women, he would arrest them and bring them back to Jerusalem['in chains' - it says in another translation.].

Friend spiritually Saul was doing everything in his power to STOP the people from leaving THE OLD WAY OF FOLLOWING THE LAW for THE NEW WAY OF FOLLOWING CHRIST! And he would do just about ANYTHING, even KILL, to bring them BACK to the OLD WAY. Once again BOUND/in spiritual bondage to the spirit of religion [the anti-Christ spirit]. It was only AFTER God opened his spiritual eyes that he could SEE THE NEW WAY OF CHRIST. Friend, that SPIRITUAL BATTLE that's still raging between the spirit of the anti-Christ and the TRUE SPIRIT OF CHRIST up to this day, was exactly what Jesus spoke about in Matthew 10:34-39.

• "Don't think that I came to bring peace to the earth. I did NOT come to bring peace, but the sword.

• I have come so that a son will be against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

• A persons enemies will be members of his own family.

• Those who love their father or mother more than they love me are NOT worthy to be my followers.

• Those who love their son or daughter more than they love me are not worthy to be my followers.

• Whoever is not willing to carry his cross [death to self] and follow me is not worthy of me.

• Those who try to hold on to their lives will give up true life.

• Those who GIVE UP THEIR LIVES [way] FOR ME [my way] will hold on to true life."

This morning as I was reading through the book of Acts, the Spirit opened my eyes to another very interesting TRUTH. Let's quickly turn to the book of Acts and see what Paul had to say to a women named Lydia:

• Acts:16:11-15. "On a Sabbath day we went outside the city gate to the river where we thought we would find a special place for prayer. Some women had gathered there, so we sat down and talked with them.

• One of the listeners was a woman named Lydia...[now listen to this!]

• She worshipped God, and he [God] opened her mind to pay attention to what Paul was saying. [Friend, she also worshipped God, just like Saul did BEFORE his spiritual eyes were opened to THE NEW WAY OF GETTING RIGHT WITH GOD...THE WAY OF CHRIST! That was also when his name was changed from Saul to Paul!]

• [NOW listen what happened AFTER she believed THE NEW WAY GIVEN BY CHRIST] She and all the people in her house were baptised.

• Then she invited us [Paul and his friends] to her home, saying, 'If you think I am [NOW after what had happened to me] truly a believer in the Lord, then come stay in my house.'

• And she persuaded us to stay with her."

Friend do you understand what I am getting at? She and Paul and all the other people who went to the Synagogues believed in God...but AFTER Jesus died and rose again, He presented ANOTHER/NEW way of getting BACK/RIGHT with God.

Not listen carefully: Every single time those people who worshipped God's spiritual eyes were opened to THE NEW WAY OF CHRIST, they got up and got themselves baptised. Why did they do that? To make a PUBLIC DECLERATION that they also have now became followers of THE NEW WAY PROVIDED THROUGH CHRIST! Becoming a FOLLOWER of that NEW WAY THAT IS PROVIDED BY CHRIST IS WHAT MAKES YOU A TRUE FOLLOWER OF CHRIST! [Take note: The meeting places where God's followers met in Paul's time were called synagogues, today we call those meeting places 'churches'. Friend, can you see how you can 'be a zealous church goer' without being a FOLLOWER OF THE NEW WAY OF CHRIST??? All those people who profess to be 'Christians' worship God! But that does not make you automatically A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST!]
